I took a bus from Tampa to New Orleans one time for Jazzfest and struck up a conversation with some old guy who was traveling from Gulfport to bet on the horses (I explained to him that the Fairgrounds was going to be occupied that weekend). We were shooting the shit about all kinds of stuff and he told me this story about hanging out and drinking with Heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano. They got shattered drunk and Rocky passed out on the lawn. The following night he defended his heavyweight title and kept his record undefeated. I can't verify that the story is true, but WOW if it is.
